The Rabbit Hole

If things begin to spiral
Down the rabbit hole,
I would want you to
Leave this poor sod alone.
It’s a journey
To the center of the earth.
I can’t pull you down with me;
You are not meant to burn
Like us flammable.
Not everyone shares a common fate;
Some people are gifted
With graceful time,
While others with their gifts stolen.
When you know there’s no way up,
And there’s nothing to hold on to,
You have to do some things alone,
Just like your life’s sojourn.
I want you to stay afloat,
Hanging on to the boat
Near the shallows
Where your tears will stop one day,
Someone might see you
And pull you ashore
And give you another chance
At a place where the land is built
By the soils of trust,
Where you can run,
Not just walk alone,
And know for sure
There would be
No more rabbit holes.
